Prophecy is in the story: 1-Abraham and Sarah (Gen. 12ff) remind us of Zacharia and Elizabeth (Luke 1ff); 2-the birth of Issacs (Gen. 18:10-11) points to the miraculous birth of Jesus (Luke 1:35). 3-God’s word to Sarah, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” (Gen. 18:14, NIV), anticipates God’s word to Mary, “For with God nothing will be impossible” (Luke 1:37. NKJV). God’s been preparing for a long time.
