Let me share and reflect on a wonderful thought:
It is good to experience
the quiet ministry
of the living Spirit
of the living God.
— From The Inward Journey by Howard Thurman
God brings moments of inner healing to your life, moments that almost pass by unless we see them and give God the praise. Here are three examples:
You hurt because of what someone said or didn’t say. You may feel a twinge of pain simply because they gave you a certain look. Your inner spirit is wounded. Then, unexpectedly, without quite knowing why, you recover your inner balance and the hurt stops. It is good to experience the quiet ministry of the living Spirit of the living God.
Tension, conflict and estrangement enter even the happiest human relationships. Some days everything seems difficult. Ordinary tasks overwhelm you. Then, without understanding how, the whole picture changes and your spirit can breathe easy again. The spring in the step comes back. It is good to experience the quiet ministry of the living Spirit of the living God.
Problems meet you head on. You find yourself engulfed in a silent fitful struggle. Reoccurring thoughts and feelings obsess your mind. An answer cannot be found. In vain you seek a clue, a key, even a little thing to give you relief and a second wind. Then it happens: a friend says just the right thing; you read a line from the page of some book; you hear the melody of an old song; you remember a sweet thought from the past; you sense a little prayer stirring in your heart – the miracle of God’s Presence comes again. It is good, so very good, to experience the quiet ministry of the living Spirit of the living God.
