God Is Not Dead
Tragedy struck both the nation and the Longfellow family in 1861. The opening salvos of the American Civil War were fired on April 12th. Fanny Longfellow was fatally burned in an accident in her home three months later on July 10th. After trimming her seven-year-old daughter’s hair, Fanny decided to preserve the clippings in sealing wax. Melting a bar of sealing wax with a candle, a few drops fell on her dress. The breeze gusted through the window igniting Fanny’s dress and immediately wrapped her in flames.View More God Is Not Dead
Evil’s Fury and God’s Purpose
In infinite compassion, our Sovereign God works in relationship with his faithful people to weave together the pain, the evil, and the loss in order to advance Christ’s Kingdom in the world. The responsibility for the evil actions sits squarely on the shoulders of the evildoers. God is NOT the author of evil. God is our creator who continues to create through his power and compassion and relationship with us, his people. He asks us to join him in creating an answer to the question, “What shall we create out of this evil deed that will advance Heaven’s purpose?”View More Evil’s Fury and God’s Purpose

Hope in God “Is anything too hard for the Lord” (Genesis 18:14).
One student did not share the sense of encouragement and empowerment. We talked together for a few minutes at the close of the day. My young friend was from Korea where he had lived all his life. For his lifetime, the demilitarized zone dividing his homeland. “It is hard to hope and have faith when I see my broken country.” We pray together. I asked him to meet me before class the next day.View More Hope in God “Is anything too hard for the Lord” (Genesis 18:14).
